HAROLD VICTOR (NUGGIN) WEBB, who died on October 26, aged 87, was born in Twyford and spent his youth in the village, becoming heavily involved in sport.
After leaving school, he worked for local agricultural engineer Fred Smith. He left in 1941 to join the Royal Navy and served for five years, mainly in the Far East.
It took him some time to settle back into civilian life but eventually he started his own business as an agricultural engineer in Braybrook Road, Wargrave, which he ran for 50 years.
His work was varied and included making wrought iron gates for many of the large houses in the area and fire baskets for the pubs. His masterpiece was considered to be the ornate lights in Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic church in Wargrave.
He will also be remembered for lawnmower repairs, earning him the nickname the Lawnmower Man.
He found time to serve as a special constable, be a speedway rider for Belle Vue in Manchester and take part in grass track races and play football, eventually running Wagrave Football Club.
Harold was a lovely, caring and devoted husband to Eileen, a good father to Michael and stepfather to Brigitte, Sandra, Kate, Victoria and Richard as well as a grandfather of eight and great grandfather to three. They all loved him dearly.
