Gillotts on BBC Television
Gillotts School is to appear in a BBC television
programme called the Story of Maths presented by
a former Gillotts' student, Professor Marcus du
Sautoy.
The first programme goes out in the UK on the
specialist digital channel BBC4 at 9pm on Monday
6th October. Gillotts appears in programme four
called 'To Infinity and Beyond' and will be transmitted
on Monday October 27th on BBC4 at 9pm. It is
60 mins long.
Gillotts students appear in the film along with
Marcus in his old class-room and wandering around
the playground, sports field and in the computer
room. A BBC spokesperson has said that Gillotts
comes out of the film in a very good light. The
Gillotts bit is featured right at the very end
of the film - and there is a lot of quite difficult
maths before you get there so please persevere.
The film will be repeated several times on BBC4
and may well be transmitted on BBC2, the more
mainstream channel, next year. It should also
be available on the Internet via the BBC iPlayer
but just for a very short time, from Monday October
27th to Sunday November 2nd.
The BBC's partners in making the series, were
the Open University, who are responsible for
world-wide distribution.

Gillotts Equestrians at Wellington
Park
Gillotts equestrians represented their school
again, this time at Wellington Park, Heckfield.
Our hosts were Abbey and Sherfield School who really
ran a very organised competion. There were a total
of 197 entries at the event with schools from Berkshire,
Oxfordshire and Surrey.
In the 2'6 class Claudia Gilbert was 7th individually
with a very fast time.
The 2'9 team comprised of Claudia Gilbert, Lily
Fitzpatrick, Georgie Bird and Katie Wooster.
Georgie and Katie went double clear and Claudia
and Lily had just one unlucky pole down. The
team managed a commendable 8th place.
The 3' class only ran with three Gillotts team
members (instead of four) so they had more pressure
on them. Both Katie and Lily had a pole down
and Georgie went double clear. Agaim, the team
were 8th. Congratulations must go to Georgie
on her first outing for the school.
Anyone interested in joining the equestrian
teams should contact Heather Wooster on 01189
721136.
Next schools competition is an Eventer Challenge
(show jumping and x-country) on 12 October at
Compton. Please contact Heather Wooster or Phillipa
Quesnel if you want to take part

in the top ten of the most improved schools in

hard work of the students and staff. I am very
proud of all that the students have achieved
and would like to thank their parents for all
the support they have given their children and
the school over the past five years.”
